Winter is here and probably some of you will give up on working out. Winter and cold weather that goes with it, are the perfect premise to hide behind layers of clothes and convince ourselves that there isn’t anybody to see how fat we are. Thus, without even realizing it, the pounds pack on and the spring comes! We become aware of the fact that we got fatter and the big depression appears- what diet should you follow, how many calories should you burn, how in the world could you get rid of the extra weight! Summer is knocking on the door and we should be in the best shape, in order to walk proudly on the beach, showing off our new swimsuit!
If you do not want this so well known scenario to turn into your reality this year, it is READ MORE
Most people in the blogosphere, including myself, talk a lot about the connection between insulin and obesity, but we often neglect some other important factors, that play a key role in a person’s inability to lose weight!
You know that there are a lot of hormones in your body. Each one of them has a different role, but they all signal your brain about what is going on in your body! Then the brain reacts to those signals and if everything is going well, you are gonna be healthy. But if the brain doesn’t like the message that your hormones are sending, and if it thinks that your body is in danger, then some survival mechanisms will be switched on!
Today I am gonna focus on the hormones that signal for hunger( grelin) and satiety( leptin), and mostly on leptin!
Today I am gonna talk about leptin resistance, what happens in your body when you have leptin resistance and why would you care about it!
Let’s first see what happens in a healthy body:
First you should keep in mind that your fat stores make inflammatory chemicals, and hormones. One of these hormones is called leptin. So that means the fat in your body, produces leptin. The hormone that signals your body, that you are full and that your body isn’t in a danger of starvation!
As you already know our bodies are always about survival! Your body doesn’t care how cute you are gonna look in that dress. Your body doesn’t care that the summer is coming, and that a lot of chicks are gonna see your naked body on the beach! What it cares about is how to survive under any circumstances!
The fat stores are READ MORE
When somebody raises the topic about healthy eating, it is usually all about how you are supposed to eat oats, whole wheat flour, corn and other grains.
When I tell somebody about my job, usually the reaction is an immediate rush to explain how he/ she eats oats for breakfast! Right then, I become green and I want to scream that this is everything else, but not healthy eating!
In this article “Grains: How Are They Slowly Killing You!”, I mentioned some of the basic points about grains and why in reality they are not as healthy as you believe them to be!
That is why today, I decided to debunk a couple myths about grains:
Myth 1: Grains are healthy, because they give your body a lot of minerals and vitamins” READ MORE
“Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering. “-don Miguel Ruiz
The other day, I was thinking about what makes people leave their dreams behind, and follow the common sense. What is it that stops them from leaving the “frame” of the common beliefs about “right” and “wrong”?
Then, I came to the conclusion, that most people don’t have their personal evaluation of themselves, such that is independent from what other people think. Give it a thought! How often do words, said by other people, make you feel bad? How often, when somebody is calling names at you, these words manage to reach to your heart and make you feel sad, angry or unmotivated?
I made the effort, to create my personal READ MORE

Physical pain is something that all of us felt at one time in our lives. Since I am an athlete I have experienced it a lot of times.
